The Pirate and the Princess…
Nora Adams believes she is nothing but a schoolteacher and poor seaman's widow until she goes to London to collect a small inheritance. She takes with her a mysterious message from her mother to a newly arrived foreign royal, who promptly steals Nora’s identity and vanishes. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the princess, Nora takes the place of the runaway, but she wants her simple life back.
Nick Atherton once lived a villainous life of piracy under the name Devil Nick, but he's left his past behind. Or had... until he’s dragged out of his role as fashionable fribble to protect a princess—or in this case a fake one named Nora—from assassins.
Nick would far rather seduce the comely widow than play noble knight. Unfortunately prim and proper Nora is determined to return the ill-fitting royal shoes, and she enlists him in her pursuit of Elena. In the process, they must dodge French spies, misbehaving royalty, and a potential killer.
For the fate of a nation, Devil Nick takes to the high seas again, but will that cost him the only woman he could ever love?

Notorious Atherton Rebellious Sons Book 3 Rebellious Sons Series edition by Patricia Rice Romance eBooks
Patricia Rice is capable of writing excellent novels, far superior to this effort. But this one ~ awash in an overblown, absurd story, an absolutely tortuous plot, what seemed to be a million characters, utterly inane passages from time to time, e.g., after the h rifled through the H's trunk, she "folded his breeches...she didn't have an iron with which to press them." What was that all about? And what was the big deal about the nephew becoming the heir and dispossessing the countess and her daughters? Atherton was the spare and he was right there, alive and well.
Then there was modern vernacular here and there. That was the least of my worries, though. I had enough trouble just trying to keep track of everything going on and make it through the story. I won't even start on the cliches and the contrivances from A to Z.

Notorious Atherton Rebellious Sons Book 3 Rebellious Sons Series edition by Patricia Rice Romance eBooks Reviews
Love Patricia Rice! You can really get into her characters and story line. It's hard to put one of her books down and I hate to finish one. Then I have to go search for one I haven't read. Won't give a synopsis or the story line, just grab it and read.
This is my favorite book in the series to date. Lust turned to love set in a important period in history! The vocabulary sets the stage but the characters steal the show. The plot line feels new and exciting as if I am there.
Oh how I loved this book!! I do hope she makes a fourth book to go with this and the first two [read 1)wicked wykerly and 2)devilish Montague first so you can meet the other two daring rogues you catch glimpses of in this book]!! I loved first meeting Nick in wicked wykerly!! His insouciant nature intrigued me from the very beginning and to finally find out why I always thought that was nothing more than a cover has me so happy I could just burst!!
This is an absolute must read for anyone who loves Patricia and daring romance stories!! Nick and Nora are not exactly your typical rogue and maiden! They are sensual and daring and he is charming and she is so commanding!! I loved how well matched they are and how well they handled the situations they found themselves in!! They're a match made in heaven!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, the third in the series. Once I read the first book I was hooked. I love having the characters from the earlier books continuing to appear. Nick and Nora are a very resourceful couple, working their way through an amazing series of exciting events. I loved how everything worked out in the end. I can't wait to read the final book
Exciting, page-turning book! I had other things to do on my day off, but kept returning to see what would happen next. That garden bed can be weeded some other time, right? The H/H both have to rise up to meet the challenge presented them, and they both come off as true heroes. Didn't think Nick would make a good hero of his own book, but he was great, as was the surprising and personable Nora. So far in this series I've liked this installment best, but am ordering #4 right now, so you never know.
I like this cast of characters and followed them through this author’s novels. Some through the library and this one from . Patricia Rice is an excellent writer.
It’s interesting how this “hero” was not lauded by society and the did not revere the Crown, although he was loyal in deed if not in spirit. Also, the author paints a realistic picture of small countries that get caught as pawns without fairytale ways of standing against oppression.
Spoiler Alert
Really enjoyed seeing a heroine who has to defend herself with skills she had kept dormant while she lived her quiet life in the country supporting her mom. And a mom who has her own intriguing past is not as crazy as her daughter may have thought.
While I enjoyed the first two in this series, this one wore me out. The plot was convoluted and not without a few holes. And I completely lost track of all the characters toward the somewhat anti-climactic climax. It was also more crude, (too much time spent thinking about and describing the state of his body parts) which, in my opinion, took away from the romance.
The first glaring big plot hole was that Atherton wouldn't dare show his face in London after being a part of a Navy mutiny! We learn toward the end of the book that his father pulled strings so he was never charged, but he doesn't know that. Why does this intelligent man, who isn't trying to hide his identity, think he can just waltz around with no consequences? The mistaken identity plot was far-fetched, but okay, we'll let that one go... if only the author had done something interesting with it. Now I'm wondering whether I want to go on to book 4 in this series or not...
